The Stars at Night are Big and Bright....

Deep in the heart of Texas. And that's where we've been for the past two weeks hanging out with friends and traveling to air shows like total groupies.  The kids and I flew in on the 30th to join Henry in Ft. Worth at the Alliance Air Show.  Since we were there over Halloween the kind air show coordinators helped our little monkey and happy witch trick or treat!

The best part about coming to Texas was the fact that we got to see tons and tons of friends.  Monday the kids and I spent the day with one of my dearest friends, Marcy and her sweet son Ryan and new baby Allie.  And can you believe I didn't get a single picture of baby Allie?!?!  Uggg... next time I will do better.  I hadn't seen Marcy since December of 2007 when Addie was a one year old and Ryan was a tiny baby.  She was kind enough to have us over to play and the kids had a fabulous time riding on the gator in the backyard, coloring, playing cars, playing at the park, and becoming instant friends.  We couldn't stand the idea of only getting one play date so I kind of invited ourselves back over on Wednesday before we had to drive to San Antonio.  We love you Marcy and your precious family!

Monday night we had a mini UHBC reunion with Johnny, Ginny, and their little boy Lake and Bethie and Keith.  Johnny and Ginny totally understand the lives of those with 2 year olds so instead of battling it out at a restaurant they opened up their house for pizza and hanging out.  It was so much fun to get to hang out with some of our oldest and dearest friends and Carter, Addie, and Lake were fast friends.  In fact, Lake and Carter are cut from the same mold and would give each other a run for their money if we lived closer.  The best news is that we are all on the same Christmas rotation again so we will be seeing each other at least during the holidays!

Tuesday we met Bethie for lunch at the Dallas Galleria and then drove all over God's green earth trying to get back to Ft. Worth and get to a Sam Moon.  If you've never been to Sam Moon you MUST go if you are ever in the DFW or Houston area.  It's got the the best selection of jewelry, purses, and cheap well made hair bows!  Did I mention that it was pouring rain the whole time and we were in the car no less than 4 hours.  YUCK!

Wednesday after hanging out with Marcy we hit the road for SA stopping first in Waco, home of the Baylor Bears!  Sic em Bears!  And I must remind everyone that the Bears are kicking butt and taking names this year in football and I wouldn't put it past me to pilgrimage to their bowl game.  We took the kids to campus (and got soaked in the rain) and drove past all of my old haunts.  My brand new apartment my senior year is looking a little dated now (does that mean I'm old) and no longer are their sorority rooms but rather an entire building has been built to house all of the sororities.  I bet the parking lot is a madhouse during rush!

We got to SA very late, checked into our TLF and racked out for an hour before Carter climbed out of the pack and play we put him in and then came and crawled into bed where he continued to kick and flop for an hour before Henry put him back to bed.

Thursday we got to hang out with our sweet friends the Registers in the morning and Addie even got to surprise Evan by picking her up at school and taking her out to lunch!

After that we met my college roommate and dear friend Alix and her kids Huston and Emery at a very awesome restaurant with adult beverages and a huge sand pit.  The kids played, we talked (and maybe had a beverage or two), and it was awesome

That night we ended our fun day at Polly and Pete's house.  Peter is away for the year at ACSC so we got to keep Polly and her kids, Maren and Tyler, company for the weekend.  Check out the adorable matching jammies that Jill sent to both of the girls who insisted on wearing them every night!

Friday we took it easy and went to see where Polly works and let the kids play around the house.  Saturday she took us to a fabulous children's museum where Carter played in the trucks and Addie played with the babies.  Anyone surprised?

That night we went to La Hacienda for dinner which may win a vote in my favorite restaurants category.  They had awesome outside seating, a playground, fabulous margaritas, and good food.  Bobby Flay even went there for a showdown!

Sunday we all ventured out to the airshow.  Polly and a few friends she works with, Alix and her family, and my other good friend Kristen and her son Brayden joined us for the day.  We had so much fun and the weather was perfect.  No one had seen the Raptor demo before so it was neat to show off the jet to new people.  Clark, Alix's husband, had never seen the Thunderbirds either so it was awesome to be able to offer them awesome seating for the show.  There's nothing like seeing the demo's from show center.

Monday we decided to take in a little Texas history and take the kids to the Alamo.  No, the didn't care or know it's historic, but they now have pictures in front of it so that's all that matters.  One day they can say they've been there.

We went over to the Register's for dinner and allowed Addie to get in a few more hours of playtime with her friend Evan.  We sure do miss having them down the street.

And now we are home.  Henry's is dying to get the Christmas decor up ASAP so I'm sure we'll have it up before Thanksgiving.  Look out for pictures of that!

OMG Carter's monkey costume is perfect...awesome. Sounds like y'all had an awesome trip. Can't believe it took you a four-hour trip from Sam Moon back to Ft. Worth!! THAT is crazy. (But - I mean, for Sam Moon, c'mon...worth it! ahahah)
