I'm partial (and admittedly haven't been to a lot of cities outside the U.S. but I have been to a TON inside our countries boundaries) to New York City and personally think that it's the best city in the world. The culture, the business, the shopping, the parks, the hustle and bustle... I LOVE IT ALL!!! On our way back home we made a stop in New York and took Carter into the city for the first time. We rode the Subway in and went straight to Time Square where Carter in true Carter fashion fell asleep. This is my child that can sleep through a jet demo so I'm not surprised that he fell asleep in one of the busiest places on Earth.
We walked north to the one store that can get the hearts of every little girl beating a little faster, The American Girl Store. I love this place. It's four stories tall, is decorated in pink, and has everything a little girl could want and then some. Addie saved her money and REALLY wanted a new doll but she didn't have enough. We told her we could make up the difference but that would be her birthday present or she could just get a new outfit for one of the dolls she already had. After much deliberation she decided to get another outfit and ask for the doll for Christmas.
Carter woke up after we left the store and swapped placed with Addie and she fell asleep in the stroller so we headed for Central Park. What's not to love about a huge park in the middle of a city that has fabulous street performers for my kids to dance to, a zoo, fountains, and horse and buggy rides. Ahhh... can you tell I could live here.
We jumped on the Subway and headed up to the Bronx to catch a Yankee's game. I went up to the ticket counter and asked for the "cheap seats." The counter operator asked if we were in the military, we said yes, and he said I'll be right back. He came back with 4 comped tickets and said, "Enjoy the game." We didn't realize it at the time but they were $325 tickets!!! We had a blast and many thanks go out to the Yankee organization.
Before driving home the next day we stopped at the Statue of Liberty and had the chance to go up in the pedestal. All of the tickets for the crown had already been given out but we still got to break away from the crowds, climb 200 stairs, and see the city from a different vantage point.
New York, we love you and we will be back. Addie is even promising that she WILL live there one day.

Boston Summer 2011
While we were in Rhode Island Henry had a day off and we decided to drive the hour north to spend the day in Boston. We went to the Commons and rode the Swan Boats and played on Mrs. Mallards ducks, walked the entire Freedom Trail for the first time (we'd both walked parts but not the whole thing), watched street performers, at clam chowder, rode a ferry, went to Harvard, and enjoyed one of the most beautiful summer days in New England.
On the Swan Boat
Here's what one looks like
Hanging on one of Mrs. Mallard's babies. Read "Here Come the Ducklings" to hear the back story.
Addie and Mrs. Mallard
Where's Waldo aka Addie and Carter? They got stuck on the steps in front of the capital while a tour group came down.
Carter thought the cemeteries were playgrounds. We were so afraid he was going to ruin one of the old headstones.
Paul Revere was here
Battle of Bunker Hill monument
Shooting cannons on the USS Constitution
Riding the ferry back in the harbor and passing by the site of the Boston Tea Party

Father's Day with my Dad
For the first time in probably 15 years my dad and I spent Father's Day together. He and Jill came to visit for the weekend and we had a great time hanging out with them. We took them to all of our favorite spots... Busch Gardens, Thai Erwain, the beach, the fountains at Peninsula Town Center and the infamous play room. Addie and Carter loved getting up every morning and going and crawling into their room begging them to come play with them. We are looking forward to their next visit soon!
Where are they???
Coming out of the log flume. Addie hated it, Carter loved it.
Riding the Elmo ride... one of our favorites.
Papou and Carter made friends with the train conductor and managed to get this authentic conductors hat.
Playing in the water
Carter LOVES to "zoom" his boats at the beach
How cute is this
"Hey lets bury mommy!!!"
Addie's turn
And now Carter
Family Dinner on Father's Day
The kids and Papou- the best of the bunch- Carter rarely looks at the camera these days
Papou and Jilly Bean- again Carter wasn't looking in any of them
Thunderbirds
If you squint real hard these are the Thunderbirds... they are getting ready to take off and below them is the crowd. I think Addie's been to a few air shows in her life...
It's Photo Shoot Time
Yup... time for another photo shoot. This time we headed to historic Yorktown and used their awesome old brick and open fields as a background. I also had some darling Raptor Demo outfits made for the kids and wanted to get their pictures in them.
