Sunny California

Almost 8 years ago we became friends with some amazing people and many assignments later we are still thick as thieves.  Jill and Dave and Jim and Karla were our crew when we lived here before and every weekend we never had to ask who we were hanging out with but rather what the 6 of us were going to do.  It was awesome.  Now, fast forward 5 years, throw in 6 kids, and we are still hanging out and having a blast.  Both families are currently stationed in California so we headed west for a week of reminiscing and catching up and creating new memories.

The first day we were there we took the kids to the Jelly Belly factory.  Henry's always wanted to go and who doesn't like sugar coated sugar!  They loved it, we bought flops, and everyone got to wear one of the super cute hats they pass out to all of their guests... even the littlest ones.  :)  That night we spend the evening drinking wine with the littles played outside.  It was AWESOME!

Henry had to go to Chico the next day to speak at an air museum so the kids and I were on our own with the girls.  We went to a park, played hard, and then got to go to Vanessa's first soccer practice.  She was SO cute out of the field.  I thought Addie might have decided to try soccer after that but no, she stuck with her decision to cheer.

Friday was an Air Force family day and Jim had the day off so Henry had a buddy to hang out with instead of us girls.  We went north to Napa (where 9 years ago we went on our honeymoon) and enjoyed a children's museum before taking the kids wine tasting.  Yes, we took our kids to the vineyards and they did awesome.  They ate the cheese and bread and we drank the wine.  My type of vacation!

Saturday we hit the city, San Francisco that is.  I had forgotten how chilly the city is and wished I'd worn warmer clothes as we walked around, ate lunch, went to the pier, saw the street performers, took pictures with the sea lions, and enjoyed the trolleys.

It was the perfect end of summer vacation.  Now where can we all meet up next year?
