SAVANNAH- for a whole 8 hours.
We left Disney around 5 so we knew we wouldn't make it much farther than Savannah but with the impending potential government shut down we also knew that we needed to be within a days drive of getting home since if the government had shut down we would be able to end Henry's TDY prior to that happening and still get paid for it. So, we drove until we gave up in Savannah. I've always wanted to visit there and we have some friends there (major apologies to them for not calling, but we really were only there for 8 hours and had no idea that was going to be our stopping point) who love it. We got up Friday morning and decided to tackle the infamous squares. Here's what we quickly found out... that it is a beautiful city and the architecture is amazing but, it's a tourist place for people about double our age and it's really not a tourist place for kids. In fact, the walking tour I downloaded for my iPhone included a statue on the list of hot spots for little people. Really, a statue? And no, Addie and Carter couldn't have care less about said statue of a little girl waving a handkerchief with a dog. We did venture to the famous Forsyth Park which was beautiful and which had a playground so that made up for the statue. After playing we hit the road for home... so long Savannah. I'd love to come back... with out kids.
